چکیده
Kambaata, a Cushitic language of Ethiopia, has productive, word-class changing approximation derivation. The process marked by the suffix -lab takes adjectival, nominal and verbal roots as inputs generates approximatives that belong to adjective word class, whose members are characterised their agreement behaviour in NP. meaning Kambaata is dependent on class its input. Deadjectival express vague, attenuated degree property, deverbal forms convey similarity or near-identity manner, while denominal nature function create ad hoc categories. sub-meanings subsumable under an overarching approximation, understood deviation from prototypical realisation. source verb ‘resemble’. From perspective, approximative derivation unique kind. No related known have morphology.
